DON PURO - Leather Craftsmen - Elaboration Process

Elaboration Process

All our products are 100% handmade using traditional processes which were transmitted to us by our parents.

Leather is cut, divided, made less thick, reduced and filled with paste in its lining as well as stuck and sewn.

1º Corte a Chabetín

2º Manos dando Pegamento

Daily, all the pieces are wet in water and when they have the desired humidity degree, "hormado" process begins. Explanation Below.

3º Mojado

HORMADO: In order to be able to give the form we wish to our pieces, we have wood molds which have the correct size of our pieces.

We put the leather in its corresponding wood mold and we pass over the leather with our traditional tools as "patacabra" (another wood mold), a small stick and other tools.

Once we carried out this slow and meticulous process, our cigar cases are placed in a traditional system of drying where they will be for several hours before obtaining its complete drying time.

Next, edges of our pieces are son shone and painted. Finally, pieces are engraved with its logos as well as packaged for later shipment.
